HOU10

An apartment, lived as an art and life atelier, transformed into a new family’s home. The basic aim – keeping family bonds – is translated into almost obsessive preserving of materials, volumes articulation and distributive directions.
Nevertheless, the need for a functional structure that is compatible with the new family is fulfilled through widening and opening the living room with double exposure, inserting a single wooden volume, at the same time container and cross dividing wall of separate functional areas.
Substance is fundamental both for its pre-existence and its authenticity; the original calcareous mosaic running through the corridor and the bathroom is renovated with surface interventions and punctual refurbishing; wood from the floor, doors and windows is renovated so as to mirror the new wooden volume separating functional areas.
The annexed side spaces – originally a sort of exhibition area – are now used for the house supplementary activities, such as hospitality and conviviality.
